Lyrics
Bard of the Brightening Hills
With a tilt of the head and a look in the eye
That captures the heart of the earth and the sky
His strong fingers coax his harp into song
Ancient as mountains, as new as the dawn
The Bard tells a story in music and words
As blithe and as bonny as any you've heard
A tune that brings many a tear to the eye
And many a memory of days long gone by
Chorus:
Bard of the Brightening Hills
Come play us a song until
Of romance and dreaming each one has their fill
Bard of the Brightening Hills
In his workshop he fashioned the harp that he plays
Of fine wood and strong hardware and ivory inlays
In a booth at the Fair he's hawking his wares
And gladly he'll play you a reel or an air
(Chorus)
Alas, now he's gone but his harp still rings clear
To Banish Misfortune and wipe away fear
His tunes will play on in the memories of all
Who heard him and loved him and heeded his call
(Chorus)
